Besides writing faux cowboy poetry, I have written many song parodies. This is in response to WordPress “To the tune of . . .” challenge

To the tune of  :the Longest Time” by Billy Joel

*************************************************************

Wo, oh, oh for the longest time

Wo, oh, oh for the longest time

If you said Goodbye to me today

I might say “who are you, anyway?”

But what can I do?

Sometimes I forget my name too

I’ve not been all there for the longest time

I get lost on walks that I go on

Maybe you should worry when I’m gone

I get weird glances

I forget to zip my pantses

I haven’t zipped them for the longest time

Wo, oh, oh for the longest time

Wo, oh, oh for the longest time

Stop the voice I’m hearing in my head

It’s a miracle that I’m not dead

Oh how I need you

I hope you’ve needed me too

I’ve not been all there for the longest time

maybe I won’t last very long

I think I’m all right, but I could be wrong

Maybe I’ve been living too hard

but I’ve come this far and it’s more than I hoped for

Once I wished my impotence was gone

with Viagra happiness goes on

Before the blue pill

I tried to make it work with sheer will

That hasn’t happened for the longest time

Keeping me alive is an art

An implant device holds on to my heart

I know you’re the women that I wed

when I take my meds

and that’s all I can hope for

I don’t care for all the gifts you bring

I feel like a fool when I lose things

My memory’s so bad

But I will always know that

we have loved each other for the longest time

Wo, oh, oh for the longest time

Wo, oh, oh for the longest time
